Information

Much like the second Pokémon Ga-Olé set, the principal Pokémon for the launch of the second set were the Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo and the New Species Pokémon Mew, each of which appear as Grade 6 Superstar Pokémon. Other powerful Superstar Pokémon debuting in this set include Zygarde, which transforms into its Complete Forme when brought into battle; Mythical Pokémon Darkrai and Keldeo, the latter in its Resolute form; Mimikyu, Hydreigon, and Lucario, each of which can use Z-Moves; and Gardevoir and Scizor, both of which can Mega Evolve. The set also features numerous lines from multiple Generations, including the Sinnoh starter Pokémon, the Generation II Eeveelutions, and Galarian cross-generational evolutions.

The second set introduces Trainer and Battle (Japanese: トレーナーとバトル) to Pokémon Mezastar, which can activate randomly when a player selects to play Get in Battle! mode. The player can decline and proceed with normal gameplay, or they can accept and face the Trainer challenging them. Doing so will shift the game to a stadium, where the player will engage in a 4-Pokémon battle over five turns. Five Trainers are available to challenge in this set, each with a difficulty rating based on the Grade of Pokémon in their team. If the player does not have a Memory tag, they can only face the first three Trainers. If they do, they can unlock the fourth Trainer by defeating the first three and unlock the final Trainer by defeating the fourth one. The order in which players can face the first three Trainers is random. A battle can only be won by defeating all the opponent's Pokémon in the allotted number of turns. Players with Memory tags will also earn a trophy for each Trainer they defeat. Bonus!! Get Time! follows the conclusion of the battle, regardless of the outcome.

As part of a tie-in with the Japanese theatrical screening of Secrets of the Jungle, a regular Zarude could randomly add itself to the player's Support Pokémon roster while playing Get in Battle! mode. If selected on the Support Roulette, Zarude would attack with Power Whip. Players with Memory tags could also obtain a campaign code for each tag dispensed between November 26, 2020 and January 31, 2021 for use in the Mythical Pokémon Get Challenge campaign. Players accessing the Mezastar Club between November 26, 2020 and April 30, 2021 could redeem a serial code worth one point for each campaign code entered. These serial codes could in turn be entered on the Mythical Pokémon Get Challenge website to receive special Pokémon and item bundle serial codes for use with Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Three new Partner Pokémon were available to players with Memory tags from this set: Machop, Ralts, and Galarian Zigzagoon. New players could select one of these Pokémon to use right away, whereas players with a Memory tag save from the previous set were required to hatch their selection from an Egg. Players still in the process of accumulating stars for a Partner Pokémon from the first set could not select one of the new Pokémon until that Partner Pokémon reached its last stage of evolution.

Players using the Mezastar Club during this set's tenure could receive a digital Support Pokémon Ticket for a Shiny Celebi. Several physical tickets were also available in Shogakukan publications in December, which could be used to add different Support Pokémon to the player's starting roster.
