Effect

This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: Can Heal Bell affect a Pokémon behind a substitute in Gen II?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Generation II to IV

Heal Bell cures the user, all Pokémon in the user's party, and the user's allies, of all status conditions (sleep, poison, paralysis, freeze, and burn). Heal Bell affects Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.

Heal Bell does not affect Pokémon with the Ability Soundproof, including inactive Pokémon.

Generation V

Heal Bell now lists Pokémon that are healed.

Pokémon with the Ability Soundproof are affected by Heal Bell in this generation only.

Generation VI to VII

Heal Bell no longer affects active Pokémon with the Ability Soundproof. Inactive Pokémon are healed regardless of Abilities.

Heal Bell will become a Water-type move when used by a Pokémon with the Ability Liquid Voice. If the user is affected by Throat Chop, it will be unable to use this move for two turns.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Heal Bell, the user regains all of its HP, and can be used regardless of whether the user is affected by Throat Chop or not.

Generation VIII

Heal Bell now always affects the user, even if it has Soundproof. If the user is holding a Throat Spray, the item will be consumed and the user's Special Attack stat will be raised by one stage.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, and Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Heal Bell is a move with 12PP that ignores accuracy and evasion checks. It cures all allies in the same room as user of all status conditions that are considered negative, such as Slowed Down, Nightmare or Constriction, as well as removing move seals (even though they aren't considered a status condition by the game). In hallways, this move targets Pokémon up two tiles away (or one in one-tile darkness). This move is affected by Taunt and Snatch. Being a sound-based move, it is blocked by Soundproof.
