Release

The game was announced by Daedalic Entertainment in March 2019 for release in 2021. With the Nacon agreement announcement, the game was delayed to 2022.[10] On 24 May 2022, it was announced on the game's official Twitter page that the developers were currently targeting a release on September 1, 2022, for Steam and the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The Nintendo Switch version was announced to be coming on November 30, 2022.[11] On July 25, 2022, the developers announced a further delay of "a few months".[12] After missing its planned 2022 release dates, Nacon announced that the game is set for a May 2023 release for Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox,[6] with a Switch version later in the same year.[6]

Four DLCs, also comprised in a deluxe edition, titled "Precious Edition", will also release featuring bonus emotes, a lore compendium, an original soundtrack, art, and additional voice acting in Sindarin.[13][14][15]

A first cinematic teaser trailer was released on August 24, 2020,[16] gameplay trailers were released on July 6, 2021[7] and July 7, 2022,[8] and a story trailer was released on March 9, 2023.[9]
