Generations II to VII

Karate Chop is now a Fighting-type move.

Karate Chop can also be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, giving extra three appeal points if the move Focus Energy was used in the prior turn. It can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination and gives an extra three appeal points if the move Focus Energy was used in the prior turn.

Generation VIII

Karate Chop cannot be selected in a battle.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Karate Chop is a move with 10 base power, 18 PP and 90% accuracy. The user attacks enemy in the front. Unlike in main series, this move does not have increased critical hit ratio, despite what the description says.

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move now has an increased critical hit ratio.
