Trivia

Pre-release picture Final cut
  • Picnicker Brooke's Japanese name is イクエ Ikue and her only Pokémon is Pikachu. This may be a reference to Ikue Ohtani, the anime voice actress of Ash's Pikachu.
  • A possible prototype of this route was seen as one of the first pre-release pictures of Pokémon Gold and Silver. It depicts a simplified version of Route 35 and a gate leading north, except with water instead of trees and fences and no open path to the right.
  • After being defeated, Bird Keeper Bryan mentions how Kurt's Fast Balls are good for catching Pokémon that flee from battle. However, while this is true in Generation II, in Generation IV, Fast Balls instead work more effectively on Pokémon with a base Speed of at least 100.
