Battle Tournament and Battle Zone events

In August 2010 it was announced that a tournament to find the strongest Pokémon TCG players in Korea would be held on 31st October 2010. 128 players made up of 2 age divisions, junior (13 and younger) and senior (14 and older), would be invited to the Battle Tournament event if they could prove their worth at a set of smaller tournaments held at various retail locations across Korea.

These smaller tournaments were given the name Battle Zone, and on 8 consecutive weekends from August 28th to October 23rd players could participate on a first-come first-serve basis. To win entry to the main Battle Tournament players had to win two consecutive battles, and as soon as each of the 8 locations had selected 8 junior and 8 senior players the Battle Zone tournament would end. Pikachu and Pichu were awarded as participation prizes at this event, and a silver Victory Medal (008) card was awarded to anyone who won two-consecutive battles.

At the Battle Tournament itself, Giratina was awarded to anyone participating and a gold Victory Medal (011) card was awarded to the 8 finalists.

Another set of Battle Zone tournaments were held between 4th December and 12th December, but this time they were aimed at helping beginners learn how to play the game. Anyone who participated in these events were awarded Riolu and Eevee as participation cards.
