Wizard with a Gun is an online cooperative sandbox survival game developed by indie game studio Galvanic Games and published by Devolver Digital. The game is scheduled to release in 2023 for Windows and Nintendo Switch. Set in a magical wilderness wrought with dangerous creatures and arcane mysteries, a wizard embarks on a journey to discover and explore the unknowns in the wilderness.

Gameplay

Wizard with a Gun gameplay is centered around exploration, resource gathering, crafting, base building, and combat. Players can customize their wizards with various weapons, magical abilities, and cosmetic items to create a unique playstyle.[1] The game's world is filled with procedurally generated biomes such as deserts, swamps, tundra, and prairies, each with its own unique resources, creatures, and challenges.[2] Resource gathering and crafting are essential components of gameplay as players must collect materials to craft weapons, ammunition, spells, and structures, in order to protect themselves from various creatures and threats that inhabit the wilderness.[3] Combat in the game combines traditional shooting mechanics with magical abilities, where players must strategically balance the use of their weapons and spells without causing damage to their tower home. Wizard with a Gun supports multiplayer of up to four players allowing them to combine their abilities and resources for more effective combat strategies and base building.[4]

Plot

Wizard with a Gun centers around a wizard as they explore a magical wilderness either alone or with other wizards. The wilderness is full of resources, secrets, and dangerous creatures where the wizard will need to use their magical abilities and craft enchanted ammunition to take on the hostile environment. As the wizard explores more of the wilderness they will be able to design, decorate, and upgrade their home base titled the 'residential tower'.[5]

Development

Wizard with a Gun is developed by Galvanic Games, an independent video game developer based in Seattle, Washington.[6] Galvanic Games has previously released titles such as Gurgamoth, Rapture Rejects: Cyanide & Happiness, and Some Distant Memory. Wizard with a Gun was officially announced on June 12, 2021 via Devolver Digital's YouTube channel.
