The Bayraktar drones are to be delivered to the former 93rd Air Base and will enter service with the Romanian Land Forces.[114]
Gowind-class corvette  France/

Multi-mission corvette Gowind 2500 4 In July 2019, Naval Group won a €1.6 billion contract, which includes the construction of four new Gowind multi-mission corvettes for the Romanian Navy, as well as a new maintenance center and a training center. Naval Group is due to build the first corvette within three years, while the remaining three corvettes will be constructed by Constanța Shipyard and be delivered before 2026.[115]
K2 Black Panther  South Korea Main Battle Tank Romanian military personnel visited Hyundai Rotem and Hanwha Aerospace on 31 January. According to experts, Romania is interested in Hanwha Aerospace’s ammunition as well as the howitzer and the tank.[116]
K9 Thunder  South Korea Self-propelled artillery 90 (in total)[117] Romania is considering the purchase of K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers. On 23 September 2022, Minister of Defense Vasile Dîncu visited South Korea and signed a letter of intent to strengthen defense cooperation.[118] Besides the K9 howitzers, an investment in the local production of powder was also in discussion. In this regard, a memorandum was signed between Romarm and Hanwha Aerospace on 6 February 2023.[119] Romania is to equip 3 battalions of self-propelled howitzers.[94] The program is divided in two stages: the first will include 3 systems, while the second will include another 2 systems. Each system consists of 18 self-propelled howitzers.[117]

Lockheed Martin F-35  United States Multirole combat aircraft F-35A On 2 February 2022, the Romanian Minister of Defence announced that Romania plans to start the F-35 acquisition procedure in 2032.[121] The first steps of the procedure are to start in 2023 or 2024, with the first F-35 squadron to be operational after 2030, according to the chief of the General Directorate for Armaments.[122]
M1 Abrams  United States Main Battle Tank M1A2R[123] 54-200 Romania is considering the purchase of M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks from the US. The Abrams is provided by General Dynamics, the company which also locally produces the Piranha V armored vehicles for the Romanian Army.[124][125] Romania is to purchase one battalion of 54 tanks and 12 tank-chassis derivatives in the first stage of the "Main Battle Tank" program.[94][126]
AN/TPQ-53  United States Counter-battery radar 6 Romania purchased six AN/TPQ-53 Quick Reaction Capability Radar systems from the US for $129 million.[127]

These will replace the old HMMWVs used by the Special Forces.[130] A deal worth $104 million for 129 Heavy Gun Carriers JLTVs, as well as radio kits, equipment, turret materials, and program support was approved in March 2023.[129][131]

Both Blyth and Ramsey were decommissioned in a joint ceremony at Rosyth on 4 August 2021.[132] Following a refit by Babcock both vessels were initially earmarked for the Ukrainian Navy to "enjoy a fresh lease of life in the Black Sea".[133][134] In October 2022 it was reported that both ships would be transferred to the Romanian Navy instead.[135]

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle 21 The Israeli company Elbit Systems proposed the production of Watchkeeper X drones in Romania. Romania is to acquire 7 systems, with a total of 21 drones. Compared to the British systems, the drones offered to Romania will have more modern systems.[138] The contract was signed on 20 December 2022 for approximately $400 million.[139][140]
