In 2023, Beirne attended the Global Irish Civic Forum and spoke about the increasing disengagement of younger Irish citizens abroad. He said that these citizens would further lose their connection with Ireland without "some sort of real engagement" or "some kind of representation" in Ireland. In his opinion, this could have consequences for Ireland's relationship with the United States and "access to the White House".[9]
