Registered in 2019,[1] the party contested its first election at the 2021 Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council election, winning two seats in the wards of Failsworh East and Failsworth West. Following the 2022 election the party had secured five of the six seats in the two wards.

Ahead of the 2023 all-out elections in Oldham the party's founders split from the organisation after a selection fight,[2] with councillor Brian Hobin becoming party leader.

Charity Hope not Hate accused the party in its 2022 State of Hate report of benefiting from a bitter online campaign against senior local Labour figures who were accused of corruption and allowing grooming gangs to operate in the town.[3]
