The long hairs on its back act as lightning rods. The bolts of lightning it attracts are stored as energy in its electric sac.

This card was included in the Sun & Moon expansion with artwork by Megumi Mizutani, first released in the Japanese Collection Moon. It was also printed in the Japanese Sun & Moon Starter Set released on the same day, December 9, 2016. It was later reprinted as one of the English SM Black Star Promos, included as one of two Cosmos Holofoil cards available in the Sun & Moon Three Pack Blisters released February 3, 2017, with artwork by match. In Japan, this print was made available in the Togedemaru Special Set starting December 9, 2016. It could only be purchased at Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores, and store chains owned by Seven & I Holdings, including: Ito-Yokado, 7-Eleven, and York Benimaru. The Sun & Moon print was reprinted in the Alolan Raichu Half Deck of the Sun & Moon Trainer Kit: Lycanroc & Alolan Raichu, released April 21, 2017.
