Release information
In Japan, twenty copies of this card were first given to Keita Takahashi, one of the overall winners of the Pokémon Card Game Illust Artist Contest. It was subsequently available on sheet sixteen of Expansion Sheet 1. There appears to be no discernible difference between the two prints; both are glossy and have a rarity symbol. It was reprinted as a non-glossy card in the Red Deck of the Quick Starter Gift Set. It was released in English as a Wizards Black Star Promo and was available through the Pokémon League in August 2002, with English-exclusive artwork. Wizards of the Coast also ran an illustration competition for the English version of the card, the chosen image being the work of Craig Turvey. All Japanese prints use the Original Series layout, whereas the English print uses the Neo Series layout.
