This card is one of the 46 cards first released in September 2003 in the English EX Sandstorm expansion before the release of their Japanese prints. The Japanese print was later released on October 24 in the Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions expansion.

Double Kick is a move in the Pokémon games that Jolteon can learn. Lightning Strike's Japanese name is that of Bolt Strike, a move later introduced in the Generation V Pokémon games that Jolteon cannot learn.
