Hirota was working with Sophocles as the asteroid probe Talonflame2 was heading back to Earth after collecting a rock sample from an asteroid. With the help of an Ampharos owned by Molayne, they were among the team tasked with guiding it back to Earth. Their efforts failed when a piece of equipment was damaged by accident by Togedemaru and Ampharos looking confidence resulting in its light failing.

After Ampharos regained its confidence thanks to Sophocles, Ash, and Goh, they reconnected with Talonflame2 and were able to bring the rock sample down to Earth safely.
