Battle-ready symbol

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, an NPC in the Battle Tower allows the player to give the battle-ready symbol to any of their Pokémon that does not already have it or the Galar symbol.

The process of making a Pokémon battle-ready deletes its record of relearnable moves (if any, excluding TR-taught moves) and replaces its current move set with level-up moves, ensuring that the Pokémon cannot know any moves it could only learn from a previous generation.

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, beginning with the July 2020 ranking season, Pokémon that have either the Galar symbol or the battle-ready symbol are eligible to participate in ranked ladder and tournament battles. In previous seasons, Pokémon were required to have the Galar symbol. (Pokémon must still meet any other eligibility requirements.)

The battle-ready symbol appears on the Pokémon's summary screen next to the Pokémon's origin mark (or next to where the origin mark would be, for Pokémon that lack one), and serves a similar purpose.

The symbol is a starburst similar to the Y-Comm icon signifying a battle. The top is half-shaded to evoke a Poké Ball design.

Only the 571 Pokémon of the first 809 Pokémon which can be transferred to Pokémon Sword and Shield, plus Mr. Rime, can have the battle-ready symbol.

As of version 1.3.0, the following Pokémon can have the battle-ready symbol that cannot also be obtained with the Galar symbol:

• Jirachi
• Victini
• Diancie
• Magearna (standard form)
• Meltan
